Esther McVey

Nominated this year for both Merseyside Woman of the Year and Cheshire Woman of the Year, Esther is the most recent appointment to our list of patrons.

Educated at Belvedere School, Liverpool she went on to Queen Mary and Westfield University in London to graduate in Law, before embarking on a post-graduate diploma in Radio Journalism at City University.

After completing her studies Esther began her career in television; researching and producing TV programmes, as well as presenting an array of high profile TV shows including GMTV with Eamonn Holmes, BBC1's science and discovery show “How Do They Do That”, Channel 4's legal series “Nothing But the Truth,” ITV's news debate series “Friday Night Live”, BBC1's Sunday morning religion and lifestyle programme “The Heaven and Earth Show,” plus many other shows across the broadcast media.

Besides her very busy media career, Esther has also maintained her links with her family’s construction business, as well as serving as a director of JG McVey and Co Ltd – a property company based in Liverpool. She also works in advisory capacity for her own Merseyside-based media company Making It (UK) Ltd which amongst other things specialises in staging major business events – including the much acclaimed ‘Winning Women Event.’

Esther’s company has been nominated for two business awards; Media Training and high profile Events and Conferences.

In addition to her work for Wirral Holistic, Esther is an ambassador for the Action Medical Research charity (funding medical research), a patron of Full of Life (supporting disabled children) and has also worked closely with Everton Football Club to help them launch the ‘Everton FC in the Community’ initiative.

Esther was selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Wirral West in October 2004 and speaks widely on ‘quality of life’ issues such as health, crime, transport and economic regeneration.
