At Wirral Holistic, we understand how life changing a cancer diagnosis can be.
Being told that you have cancer can be a confusing and life changing time for you, your family and friends and knowing that you have someone that you can turn to for advice and support can be the first step in helping you cope.
From a chat on the telephone through to sessions at the Centre, at home or perhaps a hospital visit, our professional, friendly and knowledgeable team are here to help by providing reassurance and information about aspects of cancer care.
This involves a one-to-one holistic assessment session with one of our nurses and will normally take about an hour. This period of time allows the individual to express their fears and anxieties and what they need to help them cope and the nurse will explain all the services that the charity has to offer which can help meet the person’s needs.
Following the consultation, the person will meet other team members and be shown around the Centre.
Qualified nurses and team members, who are all trained in listening skills, are available to answer any questions and offer help and guidance in all aspects of cancer.
An answering machine will record messages when the line is busy and all calls are returned promptly.
This is available five day per week from Monday through to Friday between 9am and 4pm.
The Centre has a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can find more about the charity’s services, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and have a chat with a nurse.
No appointment is necessary and our helpful professional team are always pleased to offer advice and provide information.
Planned Individual Therapy
Having gained an in-depth understanding of the problems facing each individual patient, we will tailor the most effective combination of treatments and therapies to meet their specific requirements, help them feel more positive and gain control over their life.
Because many people find it impossible to get to the Centre at all, we regularly arrange for our therapists and counsellors to visit patients in their homes or in hospital wards to give treatments.
Free Resource Material
The Centre is home to a very comprehensive collection of cancer-related resource materials, all of which is available free of charge.
With everything from leaflets and booklets about the complementary therapies and orthodox treatments, to relaxation CDs and DVDs, it’s an invaluable source of comfort and knowledge for all out patients and visitors.
